Welcome
The members of CAHEAD Capital AHEAD (or the Coalition)
welcome you to our AHEAD web-site. We invite you to learn more
about us and encourage you to contact any member of CAHEAD
Capital AHEAD's Executive Board if you would like more information
about the Coalition or if you have input that would make our site
more helpful to you.
Background of CAHEAD Capital AHEAD
CAHEAD Capital AHEAD began in 1978 as a local network
comprised of coordinators of disability support services. The
Coalition membership now includes representatives from colleges
and universities in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia,
as well as from national and community organizations. Through
their activities, these members promote the full participation
of students with disabilities in higher education.
Goals of the Coalition
- Promote equal access for students with disabilities in higher education.
- Provide Coalition members with opportunities for professional development through
bi-monthly workshops/presentations and a bi-annual conference.
- Network with professionals and peers from postsecondary institutions and
organizations through bi-monthly membership meetings and a bi-annual awards luncheon.
- Create opportunities for members to share expertise and technical
assistance with each other through a CAHEAD directory.
- Monitor current legislation affecting disability issues and educate students and
Coalition members about the impact on higher education.
