AHEAD NR SPRING CONFERENCE and ANNUAL MEETING

The University of Montana

2011 AHEAD NR Annual Conference will have two components: assistive technology and pressing issues for disability services professionals.  The attendees will have opportunities for a hands-on demonstration on reading and writing technologies and for sharing information regarding video captioning on their campuses.  Hot topics such as New ADA Regulations and services animals on campus will also be discussed.  This year’s conference emphasizes discussion and interaction among attendees.  The annual AHEAD NR member meeting, which is open to all conference attendees, will be held during lunch.

8:30 – 9:00 Registration and Welcome
9:00- 10:30 “Show and Tell” Assistive technology facilitated discussions
 
  • Victor Reader Stream: hands on instruction facilitated by Dan Burke, The University of Montana. 
  • Video captioning: What has been happening for the last two years facilitated by Rob Massee and Cathy Copeland, Montana State University Billings. 
  • Smart pens: Note taking through assistive technology facilitated by Nancy Filbin, Montana State University Bozeman. 
10:45-11:45 New ADA Regulations by Bernie Gantert, The University of Montana.
12:00-1:30 Open board/members annual meeting with lunch
1:45- 3:00 Open discussions
 
  • What’s new with the Wounded Warriors by Brenda York, Montana State University Bozeman. 
  • Service animal policies - please bring your service animal policy for this discussion. 
3:00 Adjourn
