The Association on Higher Education and Disability in Texas (AHEAD in Texas) is a non-profit, 501c3 association consisting primarily of disability service providers in higher education. Membership also includes others interested in disability-related issues such as vocational rehabilitation counselors from the various state agencies, parents, students, and advocates.

News and Notes

The 2009 - 2010 Board Election Results and Up-date

The Election results are as follows:

President-Elect: Cathy Tremaria, Austin Community College;
Coordinator - Office for Students with Disabilities (Northridge) 1 year term, becomes President in June 2010

Secretary: Rachel Cox, Texas A&M Corpus Christi;
Director - Disability Services 2 year term

To allow the current office holders to complete conference business, the new officers begin their terms 60 days following the election. Cathy s and Rachel s official duties will begin the beginning of June.

In addition, Duraese Hall, Director of Disability Services at the University of Houston-Downtown, will begin her 1-year term as AHEAD in Texas President at the beginning of June. At that time, I will become Immediate Past-President.

Our Treasurer, Dale Williams, Counselor/Disabilities Specialist at Midland College and our Communications-Membership Officer, Kerry Tate, Disability Services Coordinator at UT Dallas, have 2 year terms and will remain in their positions until June of 2010.

Conference

2010 AHEAD in Texas conference to be held in Houston at the Crowne Plaza Downtown!! Save the Dates:  April 7th through 9th.  More details soon to follow.
