Michael Brooks, Ph.D., J.D.
President, Utah AHEAD
Dr. Brooks earned his Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and political
science from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then earned his
Ph.D. in clinical psychology (with an emphasis in neuropsychology) from Brigham
Young University and completed his pre-doctoral psychology internship at the
Henry Ford Health Sciences Center in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Brooks earned his
law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU and has since focused
his practice on the intersection of law and mental health. He currently is
the president of the Utah chapter of the Association on Higher Education and
Disability (AHEAD), and he was recently appointed as chairperson for the Disability
Standards Compliance Committee (DSCC) at BYU. He has been the Director of the
University Accessibility Center at since December 2006.

Caren Harris, Treasurer, Utah AHEAD
Caren E. Harris has worked as the Office Manager of the University Accessibility Center at Brigham Young University Center since June 1999. She is now, as the Transcriptionist Coordinator, also responsible for the hiring and training of Typewell Transcriptionists as a service provided for the deaf and hard of hearing students. She manages the UAC’s finances and is supervisor of the Office Assistants working at the department’s front desk. She previously served as Utah AHEAD’s Treasurer from July 2001 - July 2004. She welcomes being of assistance however possible.
