| AHEAD 2012 Conference Program Introduction |
Once again, a dedicated team of volunteers have spent numerous hours to design a conference that meets the needs of Disability Service Managers and other college personnel. The Association is indebted to their work. Special recognition goes to Jenny Dugger of Drexel University, the 2012 Program Chair, who worked closely with the AHEAD Board, staff, and program volunteers.
Great thanks are given to our Peer Reviewers (who will each be recognized in the Conference Program Book) who read and rated 200+ proposals and helped us choose the sessions offered.
Together, the Program team has crafted a thoughtful and well-balanced set of educational offerings designed specifically for disability service/resource personnel, faculty, secondary educators who want to learn more about the college environment, ADA Coordinators, and college professionals at every level.
Our Preconference Institutes on Monday and Tuesday of the conference week offer foundational and advanced workshop-style programs in two-day, one-day and half-day formats. The Concurrent Sessions are organized along topical tracks. Many people like to follow one thread throughout, while others pick and choose based on need and interest – either way is fine!
Poster Sessions on Thursday and Friday of the conference offer you a chance to view current research and programs in the field. Also, make sure to attend our Plenary Sessions to meet your colleagues and hear from leaders in our field. The Featured Presentations pages give you information about these large-group events.
| pepnet 2 Training Institute Program Introduction |
Welcome to New Orleans!
We are fortunate to be pairing up with our valued partner, AHEAD, to offer you the pepnet 2 Training Institute in conjunction with the 35th Annual AHEAD conference! Special thanks goes out to Mary Morrison (Associate Director of Personnel Development), Marcia Kolvitz and Cindy Camp for their work in developing the track for the Training Institute. And of course, the pepnet 2 Training Institute would not have happened without the work and support of the entire pepnet 2 staff and those at AHEAD. Thank you!
The pre-conference, concurrent and poster sessions, along with exhibitors and vendors offered by the Training Institute, will focus on the unique issues of working with deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind individuals. Our sessions will highlight current research, new technologies, service provision, classroom accommodations and transition. We hope you will stop in to see our plenary session on Friday morning, featuring a panel of students sharing their experiences not only in the classroom but in particular, Beyond the Classroom. Our pepnet 2 Training Institute programming is labeled pepnet 2 (and shaded) throughout the program book. Our partnership benefits you. AHEAD and pepnet 2 Training Institute Attendees can attend sessions offered by both conferences.
As we begin implementing our vision for the new five year cycle, you’ll also see the new look of pepnet 2 (pn2) featured at this conference. Please stop by our exhibit booth to learn more about our new structure, our mission and goals, and how to build lasting partnerships with us.
