DATELINE March 2012: Campus Compliance with New ADA Access Standards
In 2011 the Department of Justice issued the first major changes to its 1991 regulations under the ADA. Changes to your policies and practices should have been in place by March 15, 2011. As of March 15, 2012, new construction and alterations must follow the 2010 Standards, and some facilities that weren't covered by the earlier standards must also comply. Is your campus ready?
Join this crucial 3-part audioconference series that covers key changes that will affect your campus's existing, new, and altered facilities, including housing, assembly areas, and recreation facilities.
Attendees will obtain a timely understanding of the impact of the changes to ADA accessibility standards, explore real life examples of what works and what might work in achieving program access and barrier removal, and prepare for the impact of the regulations in higher education, both on a substantive and procedural level. Participants will also hear what they need to know about key changes issues– including service animals and mobility devices, effective communication, and approaches to compliance – from various perspectives.
This crucial information is designed for a broad audience: Disability Resource/Service Managers, Coordinators, Directors and Counselors; 504/ADA Coordinators; General Counsel; and Planning and Facilities Management personnel.
Moderated by Irene Bowen, J.D. , President of ADA One, LLC, this series includes:
