Leadership Webinar Series: How to Lead Effectively Regardless of Title

A Four-Part AHEAD Webinar Series

Adam Meyer, University of Central Florida

Enjie Hall, University of Toledo

Fridays: February 12, 19, 26 and March 5, 2021

1:30 – 3:00 pm EASTERN Time

Last fall AHEAD offered a webinar series on leadership that was directed to disability resource office managers and directors. That series was attended by 80 office leaders who shared positive feedback but who also emphasized the fact that it’s not only the director of an office who is a “leader.” Indeed, all staff in the office can and should be involved in contributing to the growth and development of the office, students, and the institution’s culture toward disability. We are all leaders and strengthening that aspect of our knowledge and skills is essential. With that belief, AHEAD is happy to announce a second webinar series designed to foster leadership skills in all disability resource staff. Whether you’re a new service professional or getting ready to move into a director position yourself, we believe you’ll find value in the opportunity to think strategically about your leadership strengths and explore resources and relationships that will support your personal and professional skills as a leader.

About This Webinar Series

In higher education disability resource offices, we all have the opportunity to advocate for access, regardless of the specific position we occupy. We are all positioned to motivate and mobilize ourselves, our teams, and our entire campus communities to envision and pursue seamless access in which disability is valued as an aspect of diversity, and access is a matter of justice. However, achieving the vision requires working effectively both within our teams and with our campus colleagues to recognize and embrace our collective capacity to promote equitable, inclusive campus structures and systems.

In this four-part webinar series, you will explore opportunities and strategies to both sharpen your skillset and recognize the leadership expertise you already have. James Hunter says that leadership means having the skills to influence people to enthusiastically work toward goals identified as being for the common good. For us, this includes making a difference for students, faculty, co-workers and other stakeholders on our campuses, who all have a role to play in supporting the development of an accessible campus. It also means self-leadership, which is supporting your own interests and goals as you pursue new professional opportunities and build a fulfilling career.

Because these webinars are individually focused and will use breakout rooms extensively, each participants must register individually. Connection links cannot be shared.
