Sharon Downs outlines the new guidelines on documentation for DS offices. She starts off with a little history of how traditionally DS offices approached the issue of documentation and access to accommodations by emphasizing professional documentation as the primary source of information. She moves on to discuss how the new requirements flips the paradigm around by making the student narrative as the primary source of information while interaction, observation and professional documentation being secondary and tertiary respectively.

"Disability Awareness Programming and Simulation" by Amanda Kraus.
Amanda Kraus discusses how campus awareness activities that tend to raise disability awareness through simulation can inadvertently create a negative perception about disability. She suggests emphasizing the richness and diversity of the disability experience that is expressed through history, arts, and culture.

Scott Lissner discusses how implementation of accommodations can sometimes create an undue burden on an institution. He presented, with examples, the various types of undue burden from financial to administrative that may influence the accommodation process.

Scott Lissner discusses best practices for the determination of essential elements of a course/program/test, with an emphasis on an interactive and informed process.

"The Accommodation Process and Direct Threat" by Scott Lissner.
Scott Lissner discusses the process for a Direct Threat determination, using a model of analysis that includes consideration of the reality of the threat, the imminence of the threat, the consequences of the threat, and the degree to which the threat can be mitigated by reasonable accommodation. Using postsecondary student examples, he explores hypothetical clinical situations and the consideration of risk factors.

"Documentation Guidance and Office Policy Implementation" by Adam Myer.
Adam Meyer describes how the 2012 AHEAD Documentation Guidance can be translated into usable, publishable office policy. He walks through the primary goal of collaborative conversation with the student, the secondary level of informed professional judgment, and the possible need for a third level in which documentation from a medical professional is necessitated not by relevance to policy, but by relevance to the particular student situation.
