AHEAD 2021: Call for Volunteers!

By AHEAD posted 12-02-2020 02:35:43 PM

With the opening of its Call for Presentations, AHEAD has begun planning for its 44th annual, international conference: Equity and Excellence: Access in Higher Education, which we hope will be an in-person event in Austin, Texas in July 2021. AHEAD members play an important part in the conference, not only as presenters but in helping to select and support the program.

We are looking for interested members to fill the following volunteer roles, some of which do not require conference attendance. If you are interested in getting involved, please complete the volunteer form

Opportunities include:

  • Reviewing proposals anonymously. Review up to 10 proposals with identifying information removed. Most reviewers report spending approximately 30 minutes on each review. The review period this year will begin in mid-December and extend through mid-January. This role does not require conference attendance.
  • Mentoring a newer presenter. Proposers have the opportunity to request support from an experienced presenter as preparing their presentations. AHEAD will match those requests with volunteer mentors. Time commitment is expected to be no more than 10 hours in throughout the spring. This role does not require conference attendance.
  • Volunteering onsite during the conference. Onsite volunteers will assist with bag stuffing, guide attendees in the right direction toward sessions, help with tasks at the registration desk, manage the Silent Auction, and distribute centerpieces for banquet tables.
  • Moderating a conference session. You will need to attend the conference to serve as a Presentation Moderator. The role involves onsite support of the presenters, i.e., introducing the presenters, assisting with any onsite problems that may arise, reminding people of the session evaluation, etc.

Thank you in advance for your interest. We look forward to working with you!
