SONOCENT WEBINAR: Equity, Effectiveness and the Role of Peer Notetakers

When:  Feb 25, 2020 from 03:30:08 PM to 04:30:08 PM (ET)
Join our panel of Higher Education specialists as we investigate the effectiveness of peer notes as an accommodation for students with disabilities.

Our panelists are disability services specialists who use a range of accommodations for their students. The panel will include: Erin Tokajer, Assistant Director - Disability Support & Assistive Technology, American University and Michael Canale, Assistant Director for Student Disability Services. Michael and Erin will explore some of the debates around using peer notes including:

Do they improve student equity?
Are they good value for money?
Are they the only option for certain students?

We will investigate how our panelists utilize peer notes as part of their note-taking accommodations, what alternatives they provide, and what their plans are for the future.

Our upcoming webinar forms part of our research into different note-taking accommodations. We will also take a look at the results of our survey completed by over 100 Higher Education institutions in North America, further examining the role of peer notetakers.
