DREAM Mentor Monday Sessions for College Students
The student-led organization Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring (DREAM) hosts DREAM Mentor Monday sessions for postsecondary students with disabilities on the second Tuesday of most months. Guest mentors for the 2016-17 sessions have presented on topics such as finding mentoring opportunities, exploring self-care strategies, and developing a plan for disability disclosure in the workplace. These flash mentoring sessions begin at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT and run between 60 and 90 minutes to allow time for both a presentation or workshop and interaction between guest mentors and student attendees. Questions are always encouraged!
For the last 2016-17 DREAM Mentor Monday session on April 10th, the co-organizers of #CripTheVote spoke with college students about disability activism and how to participate online. Our guest mentors--Alice Wong, Andrew Pulrang, and Gregg Beratan--started #CripTheVote within the online disability community in late 2015 to encourage discussion of disability issues, amplify Deaf and disabled voices, and get out the disability vote.
