Disability History Exhibit at AHEAD 2015
In Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the ADA, AHEAD is pleased to showcase the Disability History Exhibit. Please visit the display near the conference ballroom.
The Disability History Exhibit is a 23-panel collage that was created by Advocating Change Together. It was featured on the Road to Freedom Tour and traces 3000 years of seldom-told history. From antiquity to the present, the exhibit brings viewers through an illustrated timeline that shows society’s attitudes and how they affect the lives of people with disabilities.
The copy of the exhibit on display at the AHEAD Conference is being shared by ORAHEAD.
Accessible html versions provide pages for each panel in which the content flows in a single column with alt text for all images. Note that this site also contains low resolution pdf versions of each panel. (Accessible html version created by University of Alaska Anchorage Disability Support Services.)
Playlist of video versions of each panel feature voices of a diverse group of students. All videos are captioned and work is underway to add audio description and subtitles in multiple languages. (Playlist created by Portland Community College Disability Services.)
