Our activities for 2014-2015

1. Networking with other organizations for partnership and membership development.
The committee continues planning to strategize the method(s) to network with other domestic and international organizations that have been already identified. A draft letter has been developed for the Board’s consideration and determination of the appropriate type and specifics of outreach. The Board is also being asked to determine whether such outreach should emanate from the Committee or from the Board.

2. Acknowledge standing committee members’ work.
This standing committee has asked the current President to acknowledge the standing committee members’ work. The draft of letters and the list of committee members were submitted to AHEAD.

3. Generating International Listserv posts.
Led by Ken Marquard, a series of interviews with individuals regarding disability and international perspectives has been created. A few interviews were recently posted on the International Listserv. The interviews can be seen on the International Interviews .

4. International Members Reception during the 2015 AHEAD Conference.
The Committee once again organizes the International Members Reception during the 2015 AHEAD conference. This reception offers international attendees an opportunity to meet and network with others conference attendees, as well as to exchange ideas for possible connections and collaborations. The planning subcommittee is responsible for event-planning and recruitment of attendees.

International Interviews

International Interviews is a series of discussions conducted by Ken Marquard, co-chair of the Standing Committee on Member Development. He interviews AHEAD members from around the world. Each interview introduces the member and captures her or his perspective on issues from the country in which they are reporting.
