Dear Colleagues,
As I type this, we are in the midst of what I hope will be our last cold front of this season (the 30s in Texas is cold). It is time to turn to spring and the last several weeks of the semester. In this time of new things beginning, your AHEAD Board met at the end of March to start the process of developing a new strategic plan. We had a great few days together really focusing on AHEAD’s purpose and how we want to translate purpose into action the next few years. When this plan is more formally completed, we will be sharing it with all of you so we can all work together to see it accomplished.
As we wind down this school year, I would like to encourage you to take advantage of all that your AHEAD membership provides. In addition to the Annual Conference, there are many other ways to participate and learn from your colleagues. Participating in AHEAD Communities online is a great way to connect with your colleagues without any additional cost to you. There are many Communities to choose from and most are open to all AHEAD members. Also, from the comfort of your own campus, you can participate in webinars on a variety of topics. Inviting others on campus to participate in the webinars with you is a great way to make connections and encourage discussions about how you can work together to achieve access on your campus. If you want to go deeper with your learning, the Master Classes are a great way to further develop your knowledge in a smaller setting with experts in the field. Register now before they fill up!
Of course, I do have to mention the AHEAD Annual Conference in Boston in July! The conference planning committee members have been hard at work and have several new types of sessions along with the traditional favorites. Feel free to join the 2019 AHEAD Conference Community on the AHEAD website for continual updates!
As always, feel free to contact me or any other board members with any questions or suggestions. Good luck with the rest of your semester!
Kristie Orr
AHEAD President
