Eighteen preconference options, eight concurrent sessions, two blocks of featured presentations, over 40 posters, SIG meetings, an Exhibit Hall, and networking opportunities round out the week. Anti-Ableism Caucusing, Wednesday July 10th 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Equity and Excellence AHEAD Conference in Boston, MA!

Our unique identities, backgrounds, and experiences affect how we work with students, faculty, and staff. The Anti-Ableism Caucusing session will provide a space to explore this with other practitioners who identify similarly and, thus, have similar work to do in combating ableism in Disability Services.

We will begin in one large group with introductions and an explanation of caucusing for those who have never been a part of such experience. Then, we will divide into two groups held in two different rooms - one room will be for participants who identify as having disabilities and the other room will be for the participants who do not.

This separation allows us to honestly share our stories with our colleagues of similar experience, focusing in both groups on how our experiences influence the way we work with students and the way we perceive the work to be done. At the end of the session, we will return to our large group and share out key highlights.

If you wish to participate in our first-of-its-kind caucusing event, please RSVP at http://sgiz.mobi/s3/f7a62349136d. Registration will be capped at 25 disabled and 25 non-disabled participants.

If you would like more information on this opportunity, please contact Jen Dugger at jen.dugger@pdx.edu
