Autism Special Interest Group

SIG Chairs:

The purpose of the Autism Special Interest Group is to provide information and resources to help improve the campus climate and college experience for students with Autism.  We hope to do this through establishing a professional network, sharing resources, exploring neurodiversity as a necessary component of diversity, and developing best practices to promote equal access to our collective campuses and communities. The Autism SIG will sponsor conference sessions and engage in the active use of the online community to collaborate. As a result of this collaboration, the SIG hopes to develop and share resources to:

• Support the transition from high school to college
• Develop career readiness skills and professional competencies
• Provide inclusive spaces, such as Sensory Rooms and accessible housing options
• Promote full student engagement in campus opportunities
• Connect students to campus resources and build their network of support
• Foster respect and promote inclusion at a systemic level
• Educate campus and community professionals about respectful and inclusive practices
