AHEAD is excited to announce a NEW, intensive professional development event for those newer to higher education / disability services!
The AHEAD Start Academy will offer a foundational experience to disability resource professionals just acquiring or continuing to build fundamental knowledge and skills. For three full days, you'll have the chance to explore, discuss, and apply concepts important to building equity on college campuses.
The Academy is designed to orient, refresh, and engage those new or with up to three years of experience in the field. The curriculum is based on, but expanded from, the AHEAD Start workshops that have trained over 500 disability resource staff members over more than ten years.
Combining large group, small group, and optional sessions, we will build foundational knowledge and provide options for participants to explore the topics that fit their individual needs and interests. Whether you address access as only a part of a larger role, work in a single-staff office, or work with a large staff in a community college at a small, elite college, or at a university, we've worked to anticipate the content and connections you need to advance your knowledge, skills, fluency, and confidence.
