AHEAD is excited to announce its 46th annual conference, Equity & Excellence: Access in Higher Education, as an in-person professional development and networking event. Presenters and participants from diverse fields, including education, technology, law, scholarship, and government, will gather in Portland in July, and we hope to see you there!

On behalf of the AHEAD board of directors and staff, I am excited to welcome you to Portland for the 2023 Equity & Excellence Annual Conference! The conference is the perfect opportunity to learn best practices, make connections with DR professionals from around the world, recharge, and celebrate outstanding contributors to our field. There will be substantial professional development offerings for both new and seasoned professionals, with plenty of opportunity for networking and knowledge building. If this is your first AHEAD conference, welcome! Please take the opportunity to meet and get to know other colleagues in the field. If you have attended past AHEAD conferences, I hope that you find opportunities to catch up with familiar faces, make time to share wisdom with our new professionals, and reignite your “why” you do the work. We appreciate all you do to promote equity and access and your support of AHEAD.

Daily registration (regardless of member status or timing): $325/day

Students enrolled full time and emeritus members always register for the low price of $325. “Full time” includes students who take a reduced course load as an accommodation.

Preconference pricing (Monday and Tuesday, July 17 & 18)

By June 5: half-day session: $100; 1-day sessions: $199; 2-day sessions: $395

On or After June 6: half-day session: $125, 1-day sessions: $ 250; 2-day sessions: $495

Requests for refunds can only be provided for cancellations received in writing on or before June 30, 2023. A $125 administrative fee will be charged for cancellations made on or before May 31, 2023. Between June 1 and June 30, 2023, an administrative fee of $195 will be charged. We regret that no refunds can be issued after June 30, 2023 for any reason; however, registration can be transferred to another attendee from the same institution.  If the conference has to be cancelled or postponed, full refunds will be offered regardless of timing.

Rates are based on single registration.
There is a 10% discount on registrations of 10 or more people from one institution. For information on this, contact ahead@ahead.org.

Requesting Accommodations for the Conference

Requests for accommodations during Conference events should be made in the registration portal at the time you register for the conference. The last day to request accommodations there is June 15. If you register after that date, please email Stephan Smith at stephan@ahead.org. Requests for hotel accommodations should be made directly with the hotel.

Overflow Housing for AHEAD 2023 Equity and Excellence Conference

The headquarters hotel, The Hyatt Regency Portland, and the second hotel, the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, have both sold out. AHEAD has arranged two convenient overflow hotels for attendees. Reservations at these two overflow hotels must be made by June 23^rd, 2023 to take advantage of the group discounted rates.

The two overflow hotels are the Hotel Eastlund (adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Hotel), and the Courtyard Portland Downtown Convention Center (approximately 3 blocks from the Convention Center).

The Hyatt Regency Portland is conveniently located across the street from the Oregon Convention Center. AHEAD has secured a large block of discounted rooms for Conference attendees at this hotel. The room rate for AHEAD Attendees is: $219.00 + tax per night for single or double occupancy rooms and includes complimentary in-room Internet service. Reservations must be made by Friday, June 23, 2023 but will likely sell-out prior to that date. We recommend making your hotel reservations as early as possible.

Alternative Hotel Selection

The DoubleTree by Hilton Portland

The DoubleTree by Hilton Portland Hotel is located six city blocks from the Oregon Convention Center. The approximate pedestrian time between the two is 12 minutes. There is also an accessible light rail service directly between the hotel and the convention center that travels every four minutes.

AHEAD has secured a block of discounted rooms for Conference attendees at this hotel as well. The room rate for AHEAD Attendees is $189.00 + tax per night for rooms with one bed. There is also a supply of premium double-bedded balcony rooms available at a rate of $209.00 + tax per night. Both room rates include complimentary in-room Internet service. Reservations must be made by Friday, June 23, 2023 to take advantage of the discounted AHEAD group room rates.
